Aid Authorization

Federal regulations require 蘑菇tv to apply Title IV federal financial aid funds, including Federal Direct Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, Federal Pell Grants, and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), toward allowable institutional charges such as tuition, mandatory fees, and University-contracted room and board.

Federal regulations require the University to obtain a student's authorization before applying Title IV funds to certain charges other than allowable institutional charges. These may include eligible miscellaneous charges, such as book voucher charges and other authorized student account charges.

Authorization also allows the University to apply Title IV funds toward eligible prior-year charges, up to a maximum of $200.

Important

If you do not complete the Title IV Authorization, 蘑菇tv may be unable to apply your federal financial aid to certain charges on your student account. This may result in an outstanding balance that you are responsible for paying.

Please be aware of the following:

• Outstanding Balance: Any charges that cannot be paid with your Title IV funds because authorization was not provided remain your responsibility and must be paid by the applicable due date.
• Book Voucher Eligibility: An unpaid balance resulting from the lack of authorization may affect your eligibility to receive a book voucher.
• Registration and University Services: An unpaid balance may result in a hold on your student account and may restrict registration or access to certain University services.
• Late Fees: Outstanding balances are subject to applicable late fees in accordance with University policy.
• Financial Aid Disbursement: Failure to complete the required authorization may delay or otherwise affect the processing and disbursement of your financial aid.

Students are encouraged to complete the Title IV Authorization promptly and review their student account after financial aid is applied to ensure that all charges have been satisfied.

 

How-to Complete Your Title IV Authorization Online

1. Log on to: Cougar Connect
2. Select 蘑菇tv Xpress Menu
3. Select Financial Aid
4. Select Award, then Award by Aid Year.
5. Select the appropriate aid year from the drop-down menu.
6. Select Resource/Additional Information.
7. Review and answer each authorization question, then select Submit.

Revoking Authorization

Students may revoke a previously provided Title IV authorization by submitting a written request to our department. Revocation applies to future transactions and is subject to applicable federal requirements and University processing timelines.
